This panel discussion reads the drawings of Rajasthan’s forts and palaces as an archive, asking what role they might play in future scholarship. Placed together, the detailed works in the exhibition reveal spatial intricacies, the persistence of architectural elements across centuries, and the material intelligence of the craftspeople who built them. The panel sifts through their possible interpretations to draw out the tacit knowledge, socio-cultural practices, political structures, and physical environments embedded in the drawings.
This event is a part of the “Drawing Knowledge” exhibition, exploring the intelligent architecture of imperial India. Find the full schedule here.
