Gauley Bhai (“younger brother from the village” in Nepali) is a Bangalore and Kalimpong-based transtraditional rock band formed in 2017. Hailing from Kalimpong (Gorkhaland) and Calicut, members Siddhant, Veecheet, Anudwatt, and Joe craft music inspired by migration, small-town roots, and urban life’s complexities.
Their sound draws from Nepali folk, South Indian rhythms, Malian folk, Tuareg rock, and Western rock, blues, and hip-hop influences. In 2019, they released their debut album Joro (“Fever” in Nepali), exploring themes of love, identity, and memory. Currently working on their next album, Gauley Bhai’s genre-fluid music reflects personal and political narratives, inviting movement and connection.
