Harmony, Melody and Rhythm
Performers
Just like the three lines in Y, “Y Factor” is the coming together of three important elements of Music -Harmony, Melody and Rhythm.
Keyboardist Shadrach Soloman provides the backdrop with his chords for heart touching melodies from the Hindustani violinist Ranjan Beura. Muthu Kumar on the world percussion set-up weaves rhythmic patterns across genres. The evening will comprises of a mix of slow and fast covers as well as original compositions.
Performers
Muthu Kumar
Muthu Kumar is a tabla player and percussionist with over 30 years in the music industry. Having studied under tabla legends Ustad Allarakha and Ustad Zakir hussain, Muthu has traveled around the globe and performed on many prestigious stages and festivals.
Muthu has collaborated with musicians around the world, across genres and recorded several albums. He has accompanied Anup Jalota, Alice Coltrane, Maynard Ferguson, John Barnes, Bill Laswell, Dana Gillespie, Bombay Jayashree, Grammy winner Ricky Kej, and Lucky Ali to name a few. He is the founder of Rhythm Shala – a school for Indian percussions. Muthu also conducts Online Tabla classes.
He is the founder of popular bands – Mystik Vibes, Y Factor and Atmic Vision. Muthu’s drum circles “beat hunt”, are a much sought after stress buster.
Ranjan Kumar Beura
Ranjan Kumar Beura was introduced to the realm of music at the tender age of five, by his musically inclined parents. His journey has been guided by his mentors Pandit Sunil Singh Mahant and Smt. K. Bhubaneswari Mishra.
He has done his graduation and post graduation in Hindustani classical violin from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar (Odisha). His flair for innovation, while maintaining the sanctity of the tradition, has been acclaimed by audiences around the world. He is adept in various styles such as Carnatic, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Irish, Arabic etc. He has shared the stage with several renowned musicians.
Shadrach Solomon
Shadrach Solomon hails from a family of musicians and was incepted into music at an age as early as 6. Having learnt Western classical piano from the same school as that of His Highness Sri Jaya Chamaraja Wodeyar of the Royal family of Mysore, he set foot into the world of fusion bands and eventually into movies. He worked as a ghost composer for many music directors of the Kannada and Tamil industry.
He presented his orchestral works in Wembley stadium, London when our Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited UK for the first time as the PM. He is part of a London based band called RAAGA GARAGE and has performed in 25 countries spread across different continents. Solomon still continues to lend his expertise as a co-music producer and has worked on 115 movies till now and counting.
