Worlds Within Worlds

Atreyee Majumder is an anthropologist, poet, and writer based in Bengaluru. She holds a PhD from Yale University and was an Andrew Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto. Currently Associate Professor of Social Sciences at NLSIU, Bengaluru, her research and writing span anthropology, religion, and cultural studies. Her essays appear in EPW, India Today, 3AM Magazine, and SAMAJ, while her poetry and fiction are published in RIC Journal, Gulmohur Quarterly, and Bangalore Review. Her debut poetry collection, The Book of Blue (Red River, 2024), explores intimacy, loss, and the passage of time through vivid, lyrical reflection.

Sourav Roy is a bilingual poet, translator, and educator whose work bridges Hindi and English literary worlds. Author of Kaal Baisakhi (Vani Prakashan, 2022), he has edited and translated notable works including Karnakavita, Teen Natak and Soho Mein Marx. His translations of Japanese haiku and contemporary Hindi plays reveal a deep sensitivity to rhythm and cultural nuance. Sourav teaches at Head Start Educational Academy and has been visiting faculty at Azim Premji University and NIFT Bengaluru. Through his poetry, translation, and pedagogy, he builds bridges between creative expression and critical thought.

Tuhin Bhowal is a poet, translator, and editor working across Hindi, Bengali, and English. Winner of the Deepankar Khiwani Memorial Poetry Prize (2022), his work has appeared in Indian Literature, Poetry at Sangam, Redivider, and Ballast Journal. A Translation Fellow with South Asia Speaks (2025) and former mentee at the SALT project, Tuhin’s writing often explores language as a space of solitude and negotiation between worlds. Based in Bengaluru, he continues to translate and publish widely while nurturing cross-lingual literary dialogue.

Mani Rao is a poet, translator, and scholar with twelve poetry books, including So That You Know (HarperCollins, 2025). Her acclaimed translations from Sanskrit, Bhagavad Gita and Saundarya Lahari; and from Hindi, Slow Down, River by Anamika; reflect her range and depth. Author of Living Mantra: Mantra, Deities and Visionary Experience Today (Palgrave, 2019), she blends poetry, philosophy, and mysticism in her work. A fellow of international writing residencies including Iowa IWP and Ledig House, Mani has performed and published worldwide. Dividing her time between Bengaluru and Puttaparthi, she continues to illuminate intersections between the sacred and the poetic.
