WHY ENGLISH?
“WHY DO I SPEAK ENGLISH??”
This question, has definitely presented itself to the writer, many a times..
She has been asked in an accusatory manner.. She’s been offended by it at times… She’s often wondered.. “What’s all they fuss about?” Isn’t it just a language?
After many years, she finds herself at a point in her life, where she is forced to question this herself.
WHY DOES SHE SPEAK ENGLISH?
She needed to find answers. And thus, started her journey…

This 50 minute One Woman Show has been written, directed, choreographed, produced and performed by Vibhinna Ramdev.
She uses a blend of contemporary dance and the spoken word to bring her story to life. She also uses a confessional informal way of speaking to the audience, infused with abstract movement, weaving the story forward with an interesting texture.
It is a very personal self expression, drawing from the her real life instances, and personal stories of people that she has interacted with.

Research for this includes several books and publications on the subject by prominent writers. Also, personal real life interviews of various people and their views on the English language. People from diverse walks of life and age groups.
