An epic documentary feature film on the mystic music traditions of over a thousand years of the Bauls of Bengal.
Bauls are a nonconformist sect having gurus (mentors) but no dogmas, rituals, religious institutions or scriptures. Their path to God or spirituality is defined through music.

Declared as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, The Bauls of Bengal have kept their philosophies alive for over a 1000 years, but modern demands threaten their simple, enlightened lifestyles.

Directed by Sairam Sagiraju, Produced by Vikram Sampath, Rajib Sarma and with original score and music supervision by Grammy Award Winner, Ricky Kej.

Grammy® Award Winner & US Billboard #1 artist, GQ Hero 2020, Ricky Kej is an internationally renowned Indian Music Composer and Environmentalist. He has performed at prestigious venues in over 30 countries, including at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and Geneva. Ricky has won more than 100 music awards in over 20 countries. He has been Awarded “United Nations Global Humanitarian Artist” and is also the “Youth Icon of India”.

Ricky has been named as one of the 100 Real Leaders who ‘Inspire the Future’. He is the UNESCO mgiep “Global Ambassador for Kindness”, UNCCD “Land Ambassador”, UNICEF “Celebrity Supporter” & Ambassador for “Earth Day Network”

Sairam Sagiraju

Filmmaker

A filmmaker known to experiment with storytelling using multiple mediums, Sairam Sagiraju is one of India’s first VR filmmakers. His student film on euthanasia won the Hrishikesh Mukherjee Memorial Award for best social documentary. His work on the environment and wildlife is an extension of his beliefs that have roots in his formative years in rural India. His filmography includes music videos for the Grammy winning album Winds of Samsara, documentaries and commercials for a host of partners.

Vikram Sampath

Historian
Bangalore based historian, Dr. Vikram Sampath is the author of four acclaimed books – Splendours of Royal Mysore: the Untold Story of the Wodeyars; My Name Is Gauhar Jaan: The Life and Times of a Musician and Voice of the Veena: S Balachander -­‐ A Biography.
His latest book is the first volume of a two-volume biography, Savarkar: Echoes from a Forgotten Past from Penguin Random House India that has gone on to become a national bestseller.
Vikram was awarded the Sahitya Akademi’s first Yuva Puraskar in English literature and the ARSC International Award for Excellence in Historical research in New York for his book on Gauhar Jaan. The book has also been adapted to theatre as a play Gauhar by Lillette Dubey and is being adapted to a Bollywood film by Ashutosh Gowariker. Vikram was among the 4 writers and artists to be selected as a Writer-in-Residence at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in 2015.
Vikram has a doctorate in history & music from the University of Queensland, Australia and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi. He is also an Aspen Global Leadership Fellow, a Fellow at Wissenchaftskolleg Berlin and an Eisenhower Global Fellow 2021.
An Engineer/mathematician from BITS-­‐Pilani and an MBA in Finance from S. P. Jain, Mumbai, Vikram is also a trained Carnatic vocalist. He has established the Archive of Indian Music, India’s first digital sound archive for vintage recordings, was the Founder of the Bangalore Literature Festival, Indic Thoughts Festival and curates the ZEE Group’s ‘ARTH-­‐ A Culture Fest’.
