Overcoming an Implicit Bias

We form first impressions about others the instand we meet them. However, these impressions are not always accurate due to implicit bias. We harbor unconcious expectations of others just because they belong to a certain social group.
In this talk, Prof. Schmid Mast will uncover hos implicit biases can affect our behavior and jusgement and what we can do to overcome them. The talk will be preceded by Virtual Reality demonstration by Dr. Mast’s lab.

Marianne Schmid Mast
Marianne Schmid Mast is full professor of Organizational Behavior at HEC at the University of Lausanne. Her research addresses how individuals in power hierarchies interact, perceive, and communicate (verbally and nonverbally), how first impressions affect interpersonal interactions and evaluations, how people form accurate impressions of others, and how physician communication affects patient outcomes.
