The Man and His Shadow
Unfolding the Dilemma of Being Karna
Performers
The Man and His Shadow traces the events in the life of KARNA that shaped his character. It then goes beyond Karna’s life to yours and mine – for dilemma is integral to human existence. Journeying along the spectrum of dilemma, we arrive at conflict. And war. There are winners and losers in a war. Karna lost. We often simplify a war to be Good versus Evil. But is it ever that simple? Are we all caught sometimes on the wrong side? Silenced by both sides in the end, where does Karna find voice? Where do we find voice in conflict?
Bringing together literature from multiple Indian languages, this experience is scripted in the format of a dance-theatre performance. The artistes’ exploration of Karna is as much theirs as it is the audience’s.
