Presenting a Margam, Vaibhav Arekar embarks on a journey, a marga, to explore the realms of the tangible and intangible. Entrusted with the precise structure of a Bharatanatyam Margam, this path unfolds over the years, shaped by his lived experiences, becoming a passage that unravels the mysteries and nuances of life. Progressing through the abstraction of Aaksa, he delves into the emotional landscape of a Varnam, leading to an intimate space within an Ashtapadi. The celebration of the formless through a Tillana marks the culmination of this artistic odyssey.

An intense, calm and immersive approach is a key signature style of Vaibhav Arekar’s performance. His choreography is inspired by modernity within the classical template. His keen choreographic interest is equally balanced with solo works as well as ensemble works such as – Trayyanta, Four Seasons, Shrimanta Yogi and Venugan – which investigate and interrogate various themes in Bharatanatyam.
Initiated into the world of Bharatanatyam by Smt. Saroja Srinath, Vaibhav completed his Masters in Fine Arts (Bharatanatyam) from the renowned Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyala, Mumbai. Here, he trained rigorously under Smt. Thangamani Nagarajan. Vaibhav received advanced tutelage in Abhinaya under the guidance of his mentor, late Padmabhushan Dr. Smt. Kanak Rele.
Sankhya Dance Company, founded by Vaibhav Arekar, is recognised for its intense yet engaging dance works. His training and experience in theatre add an exclusive layer to his entire artistic process. Sharing his constant confrontations with dance, Vaibhav is also engaged in mentoring young dancers.
Vaibhav as a soloist and with the Sankhya Dance Company has performed in a number of prestigious dance festivals in India and across the globe.
