Music begins where words end.
This evening of Hindustani classical music explores the intimate connection between thought, emotion and musical expression. Through vocals and tabla, the unspoken nuances of the inner mind are expressed through raga, swara, alaap and laya.
The evening features a vocal recital by Mandakini, exploring the depth, beauty and emotional dimensions of the raga through meditative expanse and rhythmic interplay. It also features a solo tabla presentation by Kaustuv, showcasing the expressive vocabulary of tabla in the traditional progression of Peshkar, Kayda, Rela, Gat and Tukda. Through rhythm, composition and improvisation, the two presentations create an evening where thought becomes swara, silence becomes sound, and rhythm becomes expression.
