About The Bengaluru Mobility Summit:
Bengaluru was recently ranked the most traffic congested city in the world. The majority of the city’s population prefers private transportation over public transportation. As a result, road infrastructure has been prioritised over other transportation infrastructure such as Namma Metro, suburban rail, cycle and bus lanes, etc. With the demand for transportation far exceeding the supply, commuters are forced to contend with a wide range of issues on a daily basis, including congestion, poor quality infrastructure, inadequate last mile connectivity, lack of multi-modal mobility, etc.
The COVID-19 crisis has created even more challenges. Safety concerns have affected how many people can be carried on a single bus and have increased people’s preference for private transport options. It is therefore timely to explore how to establish a more sustainable, efficient and integrated urban mobility system in the city.
The Bengaluru Mobility Summit aims to bring together policymakers and experts across different dimensions of urban mobility to discuss how these issues can be solved. The Summit is a 5-part series of non-political, policy-focused panel discussions around the the themes of urban mobility in post- COVID Bengaluru, Internet-enabled mobilty services, utilising public transport better
