Artistes

Kinari

Rapper

Kinari is a Delhi-based rapper, by way of Tamil Nadu who has swiftly emerged as one of desi hip-hop’s most exciting new voices. Her music draws from gaana beats, vintage Bollywood glamour, and heavy-hitting trap.

Kinari has swiftly emerged as one of the foremost voices for the LGBTQ+ community in Delhi’s rap scene. She won the Toto Music Awards earlier this year and was also shortlisted for the Indian Music Awards ‘24 Best Emerging Hip-Hop Artist.

Her debut album Kattar Kinnar released on 7 April 2024, is a radical sonic expression of life in Delhi’s Khirkee Extension. Intertwined with the beat of wedding bands outside her window, the coruscating pulse of gaana songs and cuts of Mari Selvaraj films, Kattar Kinnar is a celebration of the present. Because the trans imaginary is found out on the streets, with the people, uncompromising and unafraid.
