Date & Time

Wednesday Wed, 26 Jul 2023

Location

Bangalore International Centre
7, 4th Main Road, Domlur II Stage
Bangalore, Karnataka 560071 India

The project involves mapping Bangalore police stations and recounting crisis interventions with marginalized sexualities, genders, and sex workers. Around 8 to 10 police stations will be chosen to mark personal experiences.

The narration, presented by a transgender queer person, will intermix voices and gender expressions. The stories span from 1999 to 2018, documenting gender negotiations, dysphoria, and struggles with asserting gender. The geography of Bangalore has been significant in crisis intervention for trans individuals. Paintings of police stations will visually represent the spaces inspired by installation art. The performance will also explore Bangalore’s dual nature of acceptance and rejection.

This event is presented by Rumi Harish and Maraa.

The project is supported by Project 560, India Foundation of the Arts
