Imagined under the Rasa Rasika Series, this event explores the influence of folk styles on the more formal, classical forms of Hindustani music. The presentation will demonstrate the journey of forms like Kajri and Hori from farmlands and villages, to the courts of the emperor.
The Rasa Rasika Series attempts to create a biosphere of art, artists, and connoisseur audiences through lecture-demonstrations of Indian traditional art forms. This is the second event in that series.

Chandrima Sanyal Dutta 

Hindustani Classical Vocalist

Chandrima Sanyal Dutta has trained in Hindustani Classical Vocal under reputed Gurus like Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra and Pt. Sarathi Chaterjee of Banaras gharana. She has received training in ghazal and other semi-classical forms  under Guru Mohinderjit Singh of Mumbai.

In addition, she is trained in Western classical Music (Electronic Keyboard). Having performed in various cities in India and abroad, her primary interest lies in teaching music. Her music school, Harmony School of Music, is based in Bangalore and she has now been teaching music to students of various age groups for over 19 years now.
