This session looks at an intimate reading of BANGALOREAN by five of its six creators. This compelling book captures the essence of Bangalore through the voices of its diverse people, offering a vivid tapestry of stories that reflect the city’s evolution. From a serene Pensioner’s Paradise to a thriving Silicon Valley of India, BANGALOREAN paints a portrait of a metropolis where tradition meets technology. Through intimate narratives and stunning visuals, the book celebrates the resilience, variety, and vibrancy of a city defined by its people
The speakers will take turns to introduce their role and their experience of this creative journey and would share some behind-the-scenes pictures. A Q&A session will follow.
Speakers

Kaveri Sinhji
Kaveri Sinhji is an anthropologist and cultural researcher known for her work exploring identity, heritage, and urbanization in India. A graduate in Communicative English, Psychology, and English Literature from Bangalore’s Mount Carmel College, she furthered her studies in Anthropology at Marylhurst University (USA) and Social Anthropology through Oxford Trinity’s continued education programs. In 2009, Kaveri founded Culture Rings, offering innovative solutions to integrate Diversity & Inclusion into organizational operating models, enhancing team performances in companies and academic institutions. Currently, she is the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at a leading Telco in Sweden, as well as continues to consult for companies on DEI topics through Culture Rings’ Nordics arm. Her latest project, The Bangalorean – a co work with designer Tania Singh Khosla, Melissa Parkerton and Farrah Gillani (Writers) Katya Antoni and Chris Page (Photographers) – celebrates Bangalore’s diverse cultural fabric.

Tania Singh Khosla
Tania Singh Khosla is Founder and Creative Director of award-winning design firm TSK Design, established in 1997. Tania holds a BA (Studio Art) from Mount Holyoke College and an MFA (Graphic Design) from Yale University. TSK Design has created compelling brand-design solutions for clients across the arts, lifestyle, hospitality, corporate and education sectors. The firm’s work has been exhibited globally at V&A (London), Wallpaper’s GlobalEdit (Milan), and Experimenter (Lisbon). Tania has been a jurist and speaker at several international design forums including D&AD (London), ADC One Club (New York), ICA (London), KDY (India) and TEDx(Bangalore). In her professional and personal practice, Tania has negotiated a fine balance between an Indian and internationalist aesthetic. Inspired and informed by the modern and traditional, global and local, technology and the hand-made, she has evolved into a multi-disciplinary designer working across mediums.

Melissa Parkerton
Melissa Parkerton lived in Bangalore from 2017–2019 with her husband, Tom Wells. She fell in love with the city and was grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many of the people who claim Bangalore as home. Melissa is a graduate of Dartmouth College and has a Master’s in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle.
While in Bangalore, she served as faculty for the Institute for Health-care Improvement, working to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Bihar, developed a mentorship program for the graduates of Shanti Bhavan in Tamil Nadu, and revelled in the opportunity to work with friends to create Bangalorean.

Farrah Gillani
Farrah Gillani was born in the UK, but has spent 20 years living and working in Japan, Luxembourg, India and Sweden. Her employment has spanned such diverse fields as sales and marketing at Mars Inc. to being VP at the International Club of Bangalore. Throughout her varied roles, one constant has been her passion for writing.
From a degree in English at Cambridge University, Farrah has edited and written many articles as an online journalist before becoming a magazine proprietor across two European cities. During her time in Bangalore, Farrah worked at Shanti Bhavan, a school dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, creating new communications material for the Indian office. Currently, she works at the British Embassy in Stockholm.

Katya Antoni
Katya Antoni has for over 15 years experience in specializing in sailing and horse polo photography, working with international sports teams worldwide, capturing dynamic moments with precision and artistry.
While living in India for five years, Katya expanded her expertise into documentary photography, collaborating with organizations like WWF, Save the Children, and the IKEA Foundation. Her work vividly portrayed life in India, from its bustling cities to its most remote villages, bringing untold stories to light.
Now based in Portugal, Katya conducts mindful photography courses, blending her technical skills with a focus on creativity and self-awareness. Her photography reflects a deep appreciation for human connections, cultural diversity, and the power of visual storytelling.

Chris Page
Chris Page, a distinguished member of the Royal Photographic Society, has carved a niche for himself in the realm of photography. His specialisation is in street and portraiture photography, in capturing the essence of life and human emotions. His work is not just about taking pictures, it’s about narrating stories through his lens; stories that resonate with the viewers and leave a lasting impact.
Bangalore, a city known for its vibrant culture and technological advancements, holds a special place in Chris’ heart. The city’s bustling streets, colourful markets and warm people have been a constant source of in- spiration for his work, and especially in Bangalorean.
