If any individual has never experienced pain let them step forward. There are beneficial effects of pain. Who knew! This session will trace the evolution of pain and its perception. Chronic pain can be prevented by a healthy life style and Pain management can be done using pharmacological and non pharmacological interventions. All this and more will form part of the talk followed by a discussion.

Senthil K Vijayan

Dr. Senthil Vijayan is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain medicine in London.

He earned his basic medical degree from Chennai, India. He then left for UK to specialize in the field of Pain Medicine. He has got plenty of experience in the area of anesthesia and pain management having worked at world class teaching hospitals like Bristol Royal Infirmary, St. Marys hospital, Chelsea and Westminster hospital and Moorfields Eye hospital. Since then he has held a number of key posts throughout London. He has worked as a Consultant in University Teaching hospitals in central and west London.

He is highly passionate about creating awareness about pain by educating general public and doctors on pain assessment and management. He has special interest in the role of psychology in pain management. He is a regularly invited speaker in international
conferences on pain management. He has published extensively in the field of anesthesia and Pain medicine. Dr. Vijayan is a member of many prestigious organizations like
Royal college of Anesthetists and British Pain society.
