Mooru Chote Plays is a multilingual trilogy of short plays presenting an India negotiating anxiety and aspiration, loneliness and hope, love and loss. The adaptations are set in urban Indian cities: Harold Pinter’s One for the Road in English tells the tale of a man with unchecked power who subjects a family to psychological domination in a single-room setting; Anton Chekhov’s Piano Player (Pianovaadaka) in Kannada, follows a gifted but unrecognised pianist as he recounts the humiliation he faced at a fancy wedding party, subtly exploring class divides, the neglect of talent, and the quiet resilience of those living on polite society’s margins; Surendra Verma’s Maranopraant in Hindi, depicts the meeting of a woman’s husband and her lover after her death.

Punaha Theatre, based in Udupi, is dedicated to the art of storytelling through the transformative power of performance. They aim nurture new voices, encourage multilingual expression, and experiment with diverse theatrical forms.
