Let’s make a Storybox! is a paper theatre workshop designed to help participants to read and create visual narratives at the intersection of set-design and image composition.

In this session participants will begin by learning how to identify the structure of a creative, visual narrative. Further, they will craft elements that bring a story to life and arrange those elements in a visual form. As a group, we will examine images from illustrated books for young readers to discuss and understand the different layers of visual communication. We will then create quick sketches to unpack form, shape, scene, setting, character and composition. Working with the form of visual theatre, we will conclude by creating miniature scenes and 2-D puppets.

This workshop will require participants to carry with them:

  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Eraser
  • Scissors

*Please note participants may be required to purchase certain materials for the workshop at the venue.
