The Emergence of Sporting Leagues in India
Speakers
For most part of the 20th century, Hockey ruled the roost as India’s favourite sport. It was the 1983 World Cup win by Kapil’s Devils, which turned the tide in favour of Cricket & a business savvy BCCI helped make Cricket, India’s favourite sport today, with IPL counted as amongst the foremost sporting leagues in the world.
The successful launch of the Pro Kabaddi League in 2014, has led to a multitude of other sports following the path taken by Pro Kabaddi, in offering a wider variety of professional sporting action to the Indian audiences, through the launch of their own respective leagues.
We have the co founder & creator of Pro Kabaddi, Charu Sharma, sharing with us, how he executed his dream into reality to make Pro Kabaddi, the second most popular sport in India today & playing Pied Piper to the other leagues that followed.
