A Voice and Flute Dialogue

Join us for an evening of traditional Hindustani music, featuring a duet performance showcasing the rich interplay between voice and flute.
Experience a jugalbandi with vocalist Anirudh Aithal and flautist Shadaj Godkhindi, combining melodies with intricate rhythms. Vignesh Bhagavat on harmonium will provide supportive textures, while Roopak Kallurkar on tabla will bring dynamic rhythmic patterns.

Anirudh Aithal
Aniruddh Aithal is a 25-year-old Hindustani classical musician, vocal music being his area of
expertise. From a very young age, Aniruddh was always exposed to classical music, primarily because of his parents who are avid listeners of classical music. He formally started learning at the age of 10 from Smt. Geetha Garud Prithviraj, daughter and disciple of maestro Pt. D.S Garud. After 8 years of rigorous training, Aniruddh is now receiving training from Dr. Ashok Huggannavar, a disciple of Pt. Lingaraj Buwa Yaraguppi, Pt. Basavaraj Rajguru and Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav.
Aniruddh won the All India radio national level competition in the year 2017. He has also won numerous medals at a university level for his college at youth festivals held every year. He is also the recipient of scholarships given by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi and the Karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya Academy. Aniruddh has also been conferred an A Grade by All India Radio in 2023. He has been fortunate enough to receive (apart from classical music Taleem) training in rare Rangageethes (theatre songs), Dasarapadas, vachanas, and tatvapadas from his gurus. His passion for the practical and applied sciences led him to pursue an engineering degree which he has successfully completed in 2020.
Shadaj Godkhindi
Born into an illustrious family of musicians, Shadaj is lucky to have Dr Pandit Pravin Godkhindi as his father and Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi as his grandfather.
Shadaj started his training in flute under his grandfather when he was only 2 years old. Shadaj gave his first public concert at the age of 3 years in the Ravindra Kalakshetra auditorium, Bangalore. From then on he has been regularly performing with his father and grandfather.
Shadaj is proud to be the 3rd generation flautist of the only family in the country which boasts of performing together on one stage. They have toured all over Karnataka in 2006 and also performed in Qatar in 2010.
He has already been featured in numerous TV shows as well. He has performed in many prestigious music festivals across India. He has also performed in Hong Kong, Qatar and Dubai, Oman and toured USA with his father in 2019. He performed a special jugalbandi concert with Sitar maestro Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee in Thailand in 2023.
Shadaj has also had the opportunity to share stage with some of the legendary musicians of the country such as Ustad Rashid Khan, Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, Vidushi Kaushiki Chakraborty, Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, Vidwan Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma etc.
Roopak Kallurkar
Roopak Kallurkar is the son and disciple of tabla maestro Pt. Rajgopal Kallurkar. Roopak, under the tutelage of his father and guru, started his musical journey at the tender age of 5. He comes from the Farrukhabad gharana and has simultaneously mastered the art of playing in other gharanas as well.
Roopak was selected for the CCRT scholarships for his contributions to the world of music, especially tabla. In the recently conducted Akhila Bharata Gandharva Maha Mandal’s Alankaar exam, Roopak scored a distinction.
Roopak excels in both solo and accompaniment be it vocal or Kathak, he has performed all over India. Roopak’s solo and accompaniment has also been televised in a few south Indian TV channels for connoisseurs of music to savor and relish.
Roopak was one of the founding members of the band Anireekshitha.
Roopak has garnered accolades in his niche skill in the field of solo and accompaniment, and is equally involved in continuing the legacy of his guru and father’s prestigious tabla school Kallur Mahalakshmi Tabla Vidyalaya which is widely known for imparting tabla lessons in a guru shishya setup. The lessons are both in person and online. Roopak has trained and is currently training students both domestic and abroad.
Vighnesh Bhagavat
Vighnesh Bhagavat Yellapur started learning Hindustani Classical Vocal and Harmonium from Vidwan Dattatraya Gaonkar of Yellapur. Presently he is learning from renowned Harmonium maestro, Pandit Vyasamurthi Katti.
He completed his Bachelors in Music at Karnataka Fine Arts and Music College, Dharwad and completed his Masters Music in Hindustani Vocal with Gold Medal at KSGH Music and Fine arts University Mysore. He has performed with well-known musicians and many young artists. He is known for his sensitive accompaniment and mature understanding of Indian Raga music.
