‘Intuition, Live’ is a live musical rendition of Apoorva Krishna’s maiden contemporary fusion album, INTUITION. It features Bangalore’s very own Apoorva Krishna on violin and versatile members of her band on Bass Guitar, Keys, Drums and Percussion.

This 8-track fusion album combines Carnatic influences with Latin-jazz, Flamenco, Western Classical, Waltz, Bluegrass, and Jazz-fusion. INTUITION highlights ‘Merging Parallels’, a contemporary Thillana introduced by John McLaughlin and ‘Rāgamaya’, featuring Padma Shri Shankar Mahadevan.

Apoorva Krishna

Violinist

Apoorva is a leading Carnatic musician and has performed alongside legendary musicians including Ustaad Zakir Husain, John McLaughlin, Shankar Mahadevan, Bombay Jayashri and Aruna Sairam. Trained in Carnatic violin for nearly 20 years, Apoorva Krishna became the first Indian to receive the Young Artist Grant from Tarisio, London. Apoorva graduated with a Masters and Post Masters Fellowship at Berklee College of Music, Valencia and Boston.

Apoorva has performed over 500 concerts at national and international music festivals and venues such as Poland Jazz Jantar Festival, Harvard University Klarman Hall, December Margazhi Festival, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Bangalore Gayana Samaja, NCPA Mumbai, Madras Music Academy, Chowdiah Memorial Hall as well as at All India Radio and Doordarshan TV channels to name a few.

Ashwath Narayanan

Vocalist

Ashwath Narayanan was initiated to music at the age of 4. He hails from a family of musically oriented people who have a vast knowledge about carnatic music and he grew up in an atmosphere of musical critics who guided him to improve upon his music constantly. Ashwath’s first Guru was Smt Jayalakshmi Sundararajan. Soon after that in 1998, Ashwath started learning directly from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Palghat Sri K V Narayanaswamy, who is one of the greatest maestros of all times in Carnatic music. He had 4 years of rigorous training under Sri K V Narayanaswamy until his demise in April 2002. Since then, Ashwath has been learning under his aunt and guru Smt. Padma Narayanaswamy. Intensive training under his Aunt and Guru Smt. Padma Narayanaswamy has made him what he is today. He is a B.tech graduate in Industrial Biotechnology from SASTRA University, Thanjavur.

Aman Mahajan

Pianist

Aman Mahajan plays improvised music as a medium of exploration, expression and exchange. His work is often reflective, influenced by a diversity of traditional and contemporary forms from around the world, and inspired by a search for unity and connection. His 2019 solo piano album REFUGE explores ideas of home, paying homage to inward journeys.

Mahajan has performed widely on the Indian music circuit, and internationally at venues including Moods (Zürich, 2020), Murszene (Graz, 2019), Jazzwerkstatt (Graz, 2018), Jazz Utsav (New Delhi, 2017) and many more. Focussed on the development of the contemporary improvised music in India, Mahajan also teaches privately from his piano studio in Bangalore, and has been a returning faculty member at the Global Music Institute, Delhi. He curates performances at a few independent venues in Bangalore.

Bruthuva Caleb

Bassist

Bruthuva Bhushan Caleb is a well-known bass player and has been performing extensively for over 5 years. He has performed with Vijay Prakash, Arjun Janya, Kunal Ganjawala, KS Chitra, amongst other leading musicians. He was part of the chorus group for four songs of the Kannada film ‘RangiTaranga’. He’s also worked for the movies Gaalipata 2 and Ekalavya. He has completed post grade 8 from the Trinity College of Music, London.

Sunaad Anoor

Percussionist

Sunaad Anoor is born into a family of renowned musicians from Bangalore India. He is the 5th generation musician from his family. Sunaad learnt violin for a few years but was very much inclined towards percussion. He parallel started to learn the percussion instrument Mridangam from his father Vid. Anoor Dattatreya Sharma. His music has the core foundation of Indian Karnatic music but is also influenced by genres like, Hindusthani, Jazz, Latin and folk music. He is known for is spontaneous playing on stage and has a sound of his own which has developed in these years. He has performed all over India with very eminent Musicians from India. He has also performed in Germany and Singapore.

Ramkumar Kanakarajan

Drummer

A versatile drummer, Ramkumar has worked with some of the best names in the regional film and music industry. Having performed in numerous live shows have gained tremendous exposure and experience from the likes of AR Rahman, D. Imman, Amit Trivedi, Sid Sriram, Sean Roldan, Malavika Manoj, Mridhula Sekhar, Keba Jeremiah, Leon James, Aalaap Raju, Sanjeev Thomas and other mainstream music directors. He performs with bands such as Indosoul, Grey Shack and Amrit Rao & the Madrascals.
