What happened to the fierce romanticism of Bhagat Singh’s revolutionary spirit?
This solo play explores the profound changes the nation has undergone since the martyrdom of the legendary freedom fighter. Breathing new life into his revolutionary philosophy, the performance holds his core ideals of justice, equality, and freedom, up against modern-day socio-political scenarios.
The soil of Jallianwala Bagh, the site of the massacre that revolutionised young Bhagat Singh, is not merely dirt preserved in an urn. It is a witness to systemic cruelty, unheeded cries, and human sacrifice. When destruction and violence unfold today, in Manipur, Kashmir, or the Hasdeo forests, the same soil bleeds again. The play asks: how many unrecognised Jallianwala Baghs must exist before humanity notices? Both a mirror to contemporary society and an urgent call to remember the true spirit of the nation’s struggle, this performance refuses to let history stay history.

Shubham Tiwari
Shubham Tiwari is a theatre practitioner from Lucknow with seven years of experience and a member of The Mocking Birds theatre group. He has worked with several renowned theatre directors, including Chaitanya Prakash, Bhartendu Kashyap, Surya Mohan Kulshreshtha, Atamjeet Singh, Ram Dayal Sharma, Rozi Dubey, Devendra Raj Ankur and Raghavendra Pratap Singh, and has also collaborated with artists from Finland and Spain. His repertoire spans theatre, nautanki and street theatre, with several street plays written and directed by him. He also conducts theatre workshops in schools and colleges. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Performing Arts (Theatre Arts) at Pondicherry University.
