What Do India’s Forts Teach Us about Healthy Spaces?
RSVPs will open on Mon, Nov 9 at 6pm.
Facilitators
This hands-on workshop uses real drawings of Rajasthan’s forts and palaces to show how centuries-old builders kept rooms cool, airy, bright, and quiet without electricity or any energy-dependent mechanisms. Participants read walls, courtyards, and openings as the working parts of a healthy building, and learn how the spaces we live in shape our health and learning. Along the way, participants discover the role architects play in designing healthier spaces, and what it takes to bring that old intelligence into new rooms. What might those builders teach the architects of today?
This event is a part of the “Drawing Knowledge” exhibition, exploring the intelligent architecture of imperial India. Find the full schedule here.
