The Indian Raga is a traditional melodic type in Indian music with a tonal system on which variations are improvised within a prescribed framework of typical progressions, melodic formulas and rhythmic patterns.
“This phrase sounds familiar,”– if one has felt this while listening to an Indian song, the reasons mostly lie in the framework of the Indian raga within which many compositions are created.
