Folie A Deux
An evening of two solo performances
Performers
“3 am” and “Nobody Cares” looks at the human condition from different perspectives. Movement is at the centre of these nonlinear contemporary dance works. The artists reflect on the mental and physical state of individuals in society today.
‘3am’ (30mins):
Choreographed and Performed by Prashant More
You need to sleep but remain awake, what do you do? – Carl D’Souza.
‘3am’ talk about a situation of an insomniac personality. Struggling to sleep or fighting this sleeping disorder where the body has given up from tiredness and the mind is in complete control. Lying on the bed with closed eyes, where the mind has check-in for multiple flights. Floating in space like a cloud forgotten a way back to home. The hyper active mind filled with thoughts, ideas and anxiety. Running back and forth in the past and future. With the voices and choices who wish to expel. The time on the wall has faded away long back and where reality is no more relevant. The mind has reached a realm which is now difficult to identify the reality and dream.
The artist aims to portray images from an insomniac state of mind through movements, sometimes real and sometimes surreal.
“Nobody Cares” (30mins):
Choreographer and Dancer Deepak Kurki
Music Abhijeet Tambe and Carmen – Habanera
Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy will confront us with a piece in which he explores various effects of the chaotic character of social signifiers, as they are attached to an individual- who was born in a Hindu family, raised in a Muslim neighbourhood and attender a Catholic school. In the critical, but also intimistic piece “Nobody Cares”, the author, who completed his postgraduate studies at S.E.A.D. (Austria), uses movement as a tool in the exploration of social relations and hegemonies, even though they seem to be beyond reason.
Light design for the evening: Niranjan Gokhale
Special Mention:
Abhijeet Tambe, a musician and a sound designer based out of Bangalore, India. He composes music and soundscapes for theatre, film and dance.
Special thanks to Play Practice for studio space
