Do Museums Matter?
Are There Other Ways of Seeing
Speakers
As we enter 2022, what does it mean to be a custodian of objects and artefacts that purport to explain culture? Are there other ways of seeing objects and their narratives beyond the museum? What should be the new forums for tangible and intangible culture, their multiple histories, myriad stories and how do they connect with us today? This talk hopes to initiate a larger conversation at reassessing museums and their existing role in our society. Does the European notion of a museum need to be perpetuated or can we look at creating our own models.
