Constitutional Ideals is a curated volume of essays by legal academics and practitioners that explores the ways in which the judiciary has interpreted and enriched constitutional values in diverse political, social, and economic circumstances. It covers a broad range of topics like how judicial decisions have shaped the identity of citizens, the changing nature and scope of constitutional rights, and the examination of foundational principles such as criminality, equality and dignity. Contributors to the volume also examine the judiciary’s engagement with other institutions, such as the legislature and religion, that play a role in defining the ideals of public life. It is a flagship publication of DAKSH and is available online at Amazon.

The book will be launched by the Justice B.V. Nagarathna, currently serving in the Supreme Court, followed by a discussion on the themes of the book between Senior Advocate Harish Narasappa and leading academic, Dr Aparna Chandra.

Refreshments will be served from 6pm. Talk begins at 6:30pm.
