The 16th edition of BISFF returns as India’s only Oscar®-accredited short film festival. Recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an official qualifying festival for short films, BISFF 2026 presents a line-up of films from across the globe, showcasing stories from established and emerging filmmakers. Competition sections include International, Indian, and Animation—each Oscar® qualifying—alongside Karnataka, Asian Eye, Women’s Cinema Collective, Queer Qorner, Let’s Include, AI-Film, Dancing Lens, and a Non-Competition section, reflecting the diversity and evolution of contemporary short filmmaking.

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Ritwik Ghatak Retrospective: Cinema, Restoration & Legacy
The session presents three films by legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, accompanied by a discussion with Aparna Subramanian and Nikhil Waikar on film preservation, restoration, and archiving. It offers an opportunity to revisit Ghatak’s cinematic legacy while reflecting on the importance of safeguarding India’s film heritage for future generations.
