Brave and boundless, Pandit Kumar Gandharva questioned tradition without rejecting it, and in doing so, transformed Indian classical music.

This morning of Hindustani classical and devotional music celebrates his 102nd birth year. Khayal Gaayaki alongside Nirgun and Sagun bhajans, drawing from the poetry of Kabir, Meera, Surdas, and Tulsidas — this performance traces the roots he never abandoned.

Traditional yet contemporary, intimate yet vast: this is music that travels through raga and bhakti toward inner peace.
