Pradeep Rao’s fervent dedication to capturing the essence of wildlife through photography has led him on an extraordinary journey spanning numerous countries, such as Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Bhutan, the Philippines, and beyond. In his quest to document mammals and avifauna in their natural habitats, he has not only immortalized their beauty but also delved into the rich tapestry of history, culture, and indigenous tribes across these diverse landscapes.
Throughout his travels, Pradeep has discovered that while wildlife may be ubiquitous, their ability to adapt to varying terrains and climates in pursuit of sustenance is a captivating phenomenon. Witnessing firsthand the anatomical adaptations these creatures have undergone over time, as well as observing the grand spectacle of animal behavior, such as the awe-inspiring Great Migration of Wildebeest, has left an indelible mark on his perspective.
The talk will be followed by a moderated conversation with Praneet Goteti and a Q&A session with the audience.

Pradeep Rao
Dr. Pradeep Rao, a seasoned Consultant Pathologist with over three decades of expertise in Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine, recently transitioned from active practice to pursue his lifelong passions: Travel, Wildlife Photography, and Golf.
His affinity for photography traces back to his days as a medical school student, yet it took a backseat amidst the demands of family and professional commitments until his rekindling in 2016. Adapting to the evolution of photography from manual analog to technology-driven processes, he embarked on a journey of relearning from scratch, driven solely by his unwavering passion.
Focusing primarily on the captivating realm of Wildlife – Birds and Mammals, Dr. Rao’s lens has traversed the globe, capturing the enchanting biodiversity from the depths of the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador to the vibrant hues of hummingbirds in Costa Rica. His portfolio extends to the majestic landscapes of the Himalayas, the exotic avifauna of Rajasthan, and the diverse birdlife spanning continents from the Philippines to Africa.
In his expeditions to Africa, Dr. Rao found solace in the rugged terrains and breathtaking spectacles of wildlife, from the iconic Great Migration in the Serengeti to the tranquil solitude of Namibia’s vast landscapes. His recent ventures into Uganda and Rwanda afforded him intimate encounters with primates, including Chimps and Gorillas, further enriching his photographic repertoire.
Recipient of the “E Hanumantha Rao Award for Excellence in Photography,” Dr. Rao’s dedication and passion continue to fuel his artistic endeavors, capturing the beauty of the natural world one frame at a time.
Doc (as he is referred to) has been an active Round Tabler at the Bangalore Round Table 7, past President of the Rotary Club of Bangalore, Lavelle Road and has served on the General Committee of the Bangalore Club in charge of Entertainment, Bar & Library.
