A Mobile and The City
Introductory Filmmaking Workshop on Documenting Places
Part of B•LORE by BIC
Facilitator
This workshop will be held over two consecutive Saturdays, on 15th and 22nd July, from 10 am to 4 pm (with a 1 hour break from 1 to 2 pm). It is open to all ages and will be conducted in English.
What is the city? How does it become itself? What is it about the city that you’ll like to remember; to note down, to film, to photograph?
The city on film can be captured in myriad ways. Its moods, its colours, its nuances, its people, its essence. What is a narrative that you would like to share with others, for audiences to watch and remember for generations to come? Whether you already have something in mind or are playing around with an idea that is just beginning to take form, here’s you chance. This is a call out to all the observers, the ones wanting to tell a story about the city, about Namma Bengaluru, to lead the way towards documenting stories that shouldn’t be forgotten. Equipped with a mobile in hand, the reach and possibilities are limitless!
The workshop is an introduction to using basic aesthetic tools of moviemaking, to create an engaging piece of video that can enhance your engagement with a place. Participants will be required to bring along a smart phone with a video editing software/application. Laptop or more advanced cameras are optional.
Come get creative, experiment, make films and tell us your stories about the city!
If this workshop interests you, we also urge you to apply for the B•LORE Open Call and Grant by BIC, which invites you to tell us a story about your Bengaluru in 5 minutes! Through this Open Call BIC wishes to document fresh crowd sourced perspectives about our city. Our aim is to create a collective memory of our city with your contribution towards the B·LORE online archives. Submissions can be recorded using mobile phones or any other devices. Please send in your submissions for B·LORE by July 31, 2023.
