Internationally renowned singer and double violinist L. Shankar, presents for the first time in Bangalore a combination of his phenomenal virtuosity on the double violin and his latest contemporary hit songs backed by live drums and synthesisers.
About Freedom Jam:
Free Music Festival, started in Bengaluru in 1996 during the nation’s 50th anniversary celebrations. It is an occasion to celebrate independent music of all genres without commercial constraints. The artistes perform without fees and the audience enjoys the performances without tickets. Over the years many prominent musicians have been part of this movement and some of today’s music celebrities of Bangalore started out at Freedom Jam. The festival has grown; also being held regularly in Puducherry and a few times in Goa & Chennai.

L Shankar
Lakshminarayana Shankar (born 26 April 1950), also known as L. Shankar and Shenkar, is an Indian violinist, singer, and composer. In the 1970s he formed the band Shakti with British guitarist John McLaughlin. His style combines jazz and Indian classical music, though he also worked in pop and rock, as with Peter Gabriel. Shankar is widely considered a living legend, a pioneer and a musical genius by his peers who hold him in the highest esteem. Shenkar has enthralled audiences and critics alike all over the world. A child prodigy who is a virtuoso violinist, vocalist (with 5 1/2 octaves range), composer and record producer who has sold over 50 million albums through his solo projects and collaborations with other artists throughout the world.
Prakash Sontakke
Grammy award winning multi-instrumentalist is known for creating an unique blend of all world music styles with Indian classical. An artiste on the influential ECM record label, his work in the progressive jazz fusion genre has won him critical acclaim and prestigious awards in Europe & USA.
