Teach For India
Organisation purpose / activities
Teach For India runs a two-year teaching Fellowship where a carefully recruited group of young people are placed in some of the country’s most high-need urban classrooms across 8 cities for 2 years as full-time teachers. Through this, Teach For India works towards providing an excellent education to children in these classrooms, and also towards developing the leadership potential of its Fellows. Post the 2-year Fellowship ~70% of Teach For India’s alumni stay back in the social sector. Bangalore alone has over 450 Teach For India alumni working across teaching, teacher training, school leadership, policy, CSR, ed-tech, early childhood and other high need areas of education.
Impact assessment
According to an independent longitudinal study, Teach For India students make 3 times the gain in reading comprehension and 2.5 times the gain in Mathematical ability compared to non-Teach For India classrooms.
