Organisation purpose / activities
KARUNA DOMESTIC WORKERS WELFARE TRUST (KDWWT) is an organization working for the welfare of domestic workers and their families. It is registered with the following objectives:
1. To educate domestic workers about their rights and duties as workers
2. To empower domestic workers to get their recognition, identify their common, work related issues and seek solutions
3. To advocate for the acknowledgment of domestic work as a respectable occupation by the public, employers and the government.
4. To campaign and lobby the government to enact laws for the protection of the rights of domestic workers including fair treatment, wages, benefits and social security schemes.
5. To restore the rights of children in domestic work and provide them with opportunities to create a positive future through care and education.
6. To network with other likeminded NGOs and institutions in Karnataka.
Impact assessment
The organization has continuously built the confidence of domestic workers through various awareness programmes.
Leadership trainings were conducted to enthuse them to come out of their fear.
Nearly two hundred children have had the opportunity of enjoying and benefiting from the shelter home run the Trust.
The domestic workers are recognized as workers first in the state of Karnataka.
The domestic workers came forward to form their own union that is registered and affiliated to Central Trade Union.
6 to 8 thousands of people have received dry food kits through our service.
Served many schemes of government to our workers, like labor cards, pension schemes, birth certificates, death certificates, etc, through our Centre.
Nearly 5000 applications were submitted to labour office for the smart cards for the domestic workers.
Around 4000 eshram cards are made for the domestic workers and their family members already.

Registered in Bangalore and working in slums of Bangalore and 9 other districts of Karnataka.
