Dr. Shruti Jauhari, distinguished Hindustani classical vocalist, scholar, and educator, leads this musical performance, accompanied by Ajay Kulkarni on tabla and Tejas Katoti on harmonium. Beginning with the slow and improvisational Khayal, they move into Thumri, its lighter, more expressive counterpart centred in romance and devotion. The performance is an invitation to share in the rich experience of these musical traditions. The session closes with a samvaad, an interactive session between the audience and the artists

Shruti Jauhari
Dr. Shruti Jauhari is a distinguished performer, scholar, author, and guru of Hindustani classical music, celebrated for three decades of contribution to the art form. Holding top-ranked advanced degrees in Music and Zoology and a Ph.D. in Music, she has authored four books, including Elements of Hindustani Classical Music, Rāg Mālikā, and Fundamentals of Hindustani Classical Music, plus research on Persian influence in North Indian music, published with Ministry of Culture, Mumbai support. Trained under Gurus from Jabalpur and in voice culture under Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. J. Yesudas, she is an ‘A-Grade’ All India Radio artist who has performed at Bharat Bhavan, Oxford University, Celtic Festival (Glasgow), and The Governor House (Tamil Nadu). She now mentors emerging musicians through her renowned Shruti Samvaad workshops and voice-culture courses.
Ajay Kulkarni
A distinguished former scientist and senior director at NIC, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ajay Kulkarni blends scientific excellence with classical music mastery. He earned the National Award for eGovernance (Gold) and the Award of Excellency from the Hindustan Art & Music Society. Trained by his father, Shri Rajeshwar Kulkarni, and later Ustad Mustafa Khan Saheb, he achieved Sangeet Prabhakar with distinction from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. His tabla artistry has graced Ravindra Bhavan Bhopal, Ustad Rajab Ali Khan Saheb Smriti Samaroh, AIR Indore, Birla Auditorium, and SPIC MACAY concerts, and he has accompanied legends including Ustad Alladiya Khan Saheb, Pt. S. K. Das Gupta, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, and Ustad Mehboob Khan Saheb.
Tejas Katoti
A distinguished harmonium artist with a rich musical lineage, Tejas Ravindra Katoti began his musical journey under Guruvarya Pt. Rambhau Bijapure, the legendary harmonium maestro, and continued his education under his father, Dr. Ravindra Gururaj Katoti. His talent has been recognised through accreditation as an A-Grade artist by the Musical Audition Board, All India Radio, affirming his standing as a performer of the highest caliber. Shaped by two generations of accomplished mentors, he stands as a torchbearer of the harmonium tradition with both classical depth and contemporary relevance.
