Between good intentions and meaningful action, there is often just an overwhelming amount of information and nowhere to put it.
This session begins with a screening of The Becoming of a Wildscape, followed by a conversation with Abi Vanak. Ecologist and Director of the Centre for Policy Design at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Vanak distils years of field experience into accessible and actionable insights. The session then opens to audience questions.
Less about how much we stand to lose, and more about what we can actually do, the evening centres on one question: what does restoration look like when it is responsive to landscapes, communities, and climates?
The Becoming of a Wildscape
18:09 min | India | Directed by Tanmayi Gidh | Created by Untold Earth and Teepoi Films
The first in an anthology of five short films on ecological restoration by Untold Earth, The Becoming of a Wildscape follows Zerodha’s ecological restoration initiative, Elephants By The Lake. Centring founder Nithin Kamath, CTO Kailash Nadh, and Programme Manager Varun Balakrishnan, the film explores their thinking and approach, guided by curiosity, experimentation, and a genuine willingness to learn. The film hopes to offer a blueprint of what it can look like for businesses, and the individuals who run them to care for ecosystems and communities.
