The Many Lives of Dance
World Dance Day 2026
The Many Lives of Dance is a series of events commemorating International Dance Day, celebrating the diverse ways in which dance lives, evolves, and resonates across contexts. It brings together artists, scholars, and practitioners, to explore how dance moves from being a specialised, codified practice to a shared, social, and deeply personal experience.
While dance is explored as a rigorous system of knowledge, where technique, philosophy, and discipline shape the dancing body, it is also something that circulates through communities and everyday life through rhythm, presence, and collective energy. This series aims to enquire and build the bridge between personal movement languages that become powerful ways of seeing and feeling the world.
Each event offers a distinct lens, inviting audiences to engage with dance as a living, breathing practice that continually transforms with time, place, and people.
