A musical tradition is measured in generations, not years.

This performance is an ode to the shared artistry of a father and son. Pandit Nayan Ghosh, one of the rare musicians to command both the tabla and the sitar with equal brilliance, has spent nearly six decades shaping the soundscape of Hindustani classical music. His journey has taken him across continents, into collaborations with icons such as Pt. Ravi Shankar and Ustad Vilayat Khan, and toward honours including the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. His presence on stage carries the weight of a life steeped in discipline, imagination, and devotion to the art.

Growing up in that atmosphere, Ishaan Ghosh quickly revealed a rare instinct for rhythm and form. A young virtuoso who grew up absorbing not just technique but a way of thinking, listening, and responding to music. Having performed with stalwarts like Pt. Jasraj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and Kaushiki Chakraborty, his crisp clarity, sensitive accompaniment, and compelling solo voice reflect a generation stepping forward with reverence and renewed energy.

Together, they shape an evening where raagas breathe across time: a father’s lifetime of mastery meeting a son’s instinctive freshness, carrying a living tradition into the present with grace, vitality, and a sense of unfolding continuity.

This performance offers an experience that honours the slow, steady movement of tradition from one era of artistry to the next.
