What happens when you tumble down a hill and land on a secret?

Based on a true story of a botanist who accidentally rediscovered a rare orchid in the forests of Tamil Nadu. The session begins with a live reading of Botanist and the Vanishing Orchid, a comic inspired by real events followed by a hands-on workshop where participants complete a comic of their own. With some panels already illustrated and others left blank, you get to imagine the characters, twist the plot, and decide how the tale ends.

Radha Patkar

Illustrator

Radha Patkar is a visual communication designer, born and raised in Mumbai and currently based in Bangalore. A recent graduate from the National Institute of Design, Bhopal, her creative process often begins with quiet sketches in a notebook before unfolding into more elaborate visual narratives. Her work is rooted in storytelling, world-building, and visual scripting — driven by a desire to make the ordinary feel a little more special. Inspired by the chaos of city life, its people, and the fleeting details often overlooked, Radha creates illustrations and comics that celebrate everyday moments with quiet intensity and care.

Jaya Peter

Filmmaker

Jaya Peter believes in the power of stories to communicate and connect. She began her career writing and directing for the popular Doordarshan television show Surabhi. She later directed three documentaries for the Ford Foundation, focusing on the lives of indigenous communities in Bihar and Chhattisgarh.

For over fifteen years, Jaya worked in broadcast media as a creative director and brand strategist with major networks such as Star TV, Sahara Manoranjan, Sony, Viacom18, and Mazhavil Manorama. She played a key role in developing the brand strategy for IPL Seasons 2 and 3 and directed both on-air and off-air campaigns for SONY MAX—work that earned a Gold at the World Promax Awards for Best Script and Best Sports Promo.

Jaya eventually stepped away from television to explore her passion for wildlife. She pursued courses in butterflies and ornithology at BNHS and now occasionally writes about travel and nature for various publications.
