A Contemporary Movement Experience
An Open Day of Movement
Facilitator
This workshop will introduce participants to contemporary movement practice which is informed by contemporary dance, and also draws its grammar and structure from embodied movement and somatic practices such as Yoga, Kalaripayattu, and Bharatanatyam.
The instructors will take participants through this 3-hour long workshop. They will acquaint participants with fundamental and foundational movement vocabularies. Participants will be invited to explore a relationship of their bodies with these essential movement phrases. They will also be encouraged to train their focus on specific choreographic sets taken from Attakkalari’s creative repertory.

Attakkalari Mobile Academy
Attakkalari has been working extensively to bring dance education to schools across Bangalore with its Mobile Academy. The Mobile Academy aims to extend arts and dance education to a much wider community that stretches across Bangalore’s school system at various levels. For over two decades Attakkalari’s Education Outreach Programme has worked to expand dance education and make it accessible to people from diverse communities and social locations. The dance classes have been geared toward contemporary dance but the Mobile Academy offers many other styles such as Kalaripayattu, Bharatanatyam and Choreography.
