What Words Become is an immersive evening of spoken word poetry that is brought to life by music. The artists will improvise with each other to find the sweet spot where poetry and music intertwine. The themes are relatable as the poet takes inspiration from her life and her observations.

Rochelle D'silva
Poet
Rochelleis a Spoken Word Poet based in Goa. She writes about her travels, cultural influences and personal experiences. She has been a part of numerous literary festivals and has performed on stages across India, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal – Melbourne Spoken Word Festival 2018, Kala Ghoda Festival 2018/2016, Bengaluru Poetry Festival 2017 and Poets Translating Poets Festival 2016 to name a few.
She has two poetry and music albums Best Apology Face and A Thin Veneer of Coping with Melbourne composer Meena Shamaly. Her solo collection of poems When Home Is An Idea was published in 2017 and has been widely appreciated as a conduit to talk about identity and belonging. She gave her first TEDx performance in November 2019.
Rochelle is also a trained counsellor and wants to explore the many possibilities of merging poetry and counselling as tools for expression and healing. She endorses hugs.

Anurag is a composer, producer and guitar player who has been working with indie/alternative artists, film/advertising, folk/roots performers and everything in between for the past few years. Exploring the various facets of artistic collaboration and representing Indian culture through music is something that he wishes to continue doing for the foreseeable future.
