Organisation purpose / activities
Vihaan works at the grass roots to make all forms of human trafficking and exploitation a rarity by saving lives and breaking the cycle of crime across locations. We work with victims of sexual abuse and exploitation, bonded and child labour, domestic servitude and beggary.
Through the work we do, we implement a number of frontline efforts and programs directed at eliminating all forms of human trafficking. Our uniqueness lies in the victim centric, multidisciplinary, end-to-end approach to facilitate rescue, provide access to legal support leading to justice, as well as rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors.
Impact assessment
Since our inception, we have rescued more than 4800 victims of trafficking from destination points across India. More than 3300 survivors have been supported through an intensive aftercare program, We assisted the state in arresting more than 1200 accused and have secured 145 convictions, thus disrupting the criminal network. 49,000 frontline professionals comprising of law enforcement, judiciary and the team of partner organizations have been trained.
Extent of focus in Bengaluru
We have a 10 member team in Bangalore through whom we implement the interventions related to skill training, strengthening the criminal justice system through case work, capacity building and advocacy.
