Shringara or amorous love is considered to be the mother of all the nine rasas in Indian dance. It includes jealousy, passion, anger, fear, lust and love. It is intimate and secret, yet universal. In this panel, two superb exponents of Indian dance will explore this notion of “amor” or amorous love. They will emote this feeling, demonstrate how it is used and displayed in Indian dance and give historical content that goes back to the Natyashastra. How do males experience shringara?
