“Jai Sri Ram!” has been a slogan of triumph for some time. “Hey Ram!” on the other hand, was an exclamation of dismay heard from Gandhi when he was assassinated. This talk raises possible lines of moral introspection in our times: Can there be a Ram Rajya without Gram Swarajya (rural autonomy)? How can social activists engage religion while steering clear of religious fundamentalism? How might we rethink the industrial economic vision shared by both the left and the right?
