A talk on Pre-Islamic Arab Poetry

In the Western world, there are tens of researches and books are written on Pre Islamic Arabic Poetry. Though it is “Pagan” literature to today’s Arab Islamic world, these texts are much respected and are being read in academic curricula. This literature is secular and various aspects of human expressions were openly discussed without any restrictions.
The Pre Islamic Arab era is believed to be more democratic though it was lawless society. Poetry was one of their major aspects of living where celebrations on poetry were frequently happening. Besides this, we could find tens of Post Modern aspects in this “pagan” era. The speaker shares his ideas on Pre Islamic Arab poetry through which light can be shed on the above said socio-cultural details of the era.

An Indian writer, aspiring film maker; teaches English literature in one of the universities of Saudi Arabia; made couple of short movies, and published two short story collections as well.
