Post-liberalisation, India saw a boom in the IT sector concentrated in Bengaluru. With more money and free time, the people of the city started showing more interest in hobbies like photography. Birdwatching circles were no longer limited to ornithologists anymore. Photography became an entry point for the birdwatching community to grow. Despite Bengaluru’s rapid urbanisation, the city’s green pockets such as Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, and multiple lakes, continue to host birdwatchers every weekend. Birdwatchers and related organisations have made nature education programs accessible to Bengaluru’s general public.

Through this short film, the filmmakers document the history of birding in Bengaluru, and how it continues to bring people together through nature education and awareness.
