Organisation purpose / activities

The burden of cancer is growing in recent years. In India 70% cases come to the hospital at an advanced stage. There is a need to combat ignorance, fear and misinformation about the disease.

Indian Cancer Society is the beacon of hope for underprivileged cancer patients, rural and urban. Our mission:
– To create awareness that cancer is preventable and curable
– To facilitate early detection of ORAL, BREAST AND CERVICAL cancers through free detection camps
– To offer initial financial aid through Bridge fund
– To reintegrate cancer survivors into society, with emotional as well as self-esteem support

Impact assessment

Impact assessed through reach under:
a. Primordial Prevention of cancer -By creating awareness among different sections of society, especially those with low access to information
b. Primary Prevention of Cancer through early diagnosis of cancer risk individuals
c. Influence changes in lifestyle, habits; share techniques for Oral self-examination and Breast self-examination to catch early signs of malignancy
d. Counsel tobacco users and slowly wean them away from the habit
e. Encourage low-income cancer suspects to start treatment without delay, though our Bridge Fund.
