Organisation purpose / activities

The Association of People with Disability (APD) is a non-profit organization based out of Bangalore. Founded in 1959, APD works extensively to reach and rehabilitate People with Disability (PwD) from the most underprivileged segments (economically marginalised and deprived communities) of society.

Our aim is to create an inclusive society where people with disabilities are accepted into mainstream society – a culture and ecosystem where they can earn, live and sustain with dignity and respect.

Vision: A world where Equity, Dignity and Justice are assured for people with disability.

Mission: Nurture an inclusive ecosystem, and empower people with disabilities with access to comprehensive rehabilitation services , rights, entitlements, equal opportunities and dignity through life cycle approach.

Values: Integrity, Empathy,  Accountability, Collaboration , Excellence and  Diversity.

Impact assessment

APD  runs Shradhanjali Integrated School with 244 students of whom 196 are children with special needs and 48 are able bodied but from the vulnerable section. APD runs a Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre with 23 beds in Jeevan Bhima Nagar and rehabilitate 500 people every years along with partners.

APD has a horticulture and livelihood centre in KylsanaHalli near Doddagubbi  with hostel facility  for 160 persons with disability and place over 2000 people with employment  and self employment opportunities
