Organisation purpose / activities
Hasiru Dala is a social impact organization that focuses on securing justice for wastepickers through interventions co-created with wastepickers. Hasiru Dala has worked with wastepickers in Bangalore since 2011, and was incorporated as a Charitable Trust in November 2013.
Impact assessment
The 2-bin-1 bag method of waste collection was experimented in 1,000 households by Hasiru Dala. Today it is the rule of the city.

– 63,571 Food Kits distributed during lockdown and pandemic

– 2,546 Waste pickers provided cash support during lockdown
– 1,650 Waste pickers’ children part of our Children’s Program – Buguri in Karnataka
– 150 activity sessions conducted for children in Buguri
– 2,677 children from Buguri participated in “read-aloud” program
Extent of focus in Bengaluru
We work with 92 bastis with approximately 25,000 people. We work with the BBMP in dry waste management which is facilitated in 59 wards in Bengaluru which provides livelihood to 507 workers in Dry Waste Collection Centres (DWCCs).
