DESCRIPTION:The Belle of Amherst by William Luce\, written in 1976\, is a play based on the life of American poet Emily Dickinson. It was first performed by Julie Harris\, who won a Tony for her role\, in 1977. The story\, narrated by the eccentric Emily herself\, liberally interspersed with her sublime poetry\, is a truly soulful journey for both the character and her audience.
